Terms of Use (EULA)
Last updated: September 7, 2026
Agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of SafeStarr (“we”, “us”), including the website at safestarr.com, the web map at app.safestarr.com, and the SafeStarr mobile applications on iOS and Android (together, the “Service”).
By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Apple Licensed Application EULA
If you obtained the iOS app from the Apple App Store, your use of that app is also governed by Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which is incorporated into these Terms:
https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
If Apple’s standard EULA and these Terms conflict for the iOS app, Apple’s standard EULA controls for that conflict. These Terms add SafeStarr-specific rules for subscriptions, community reports, and safety data.
The Service
SafeStarr is a community safety map and navigation product. The free map shows reported incidents, unsafe locations, and moderated community reports. SafeStarr Pro adds Driving Mode: turn-by-turn navigation, spoken hazard alerts along a route, and the route planner.
The Service is not an emergency-response system, law-enforcement service, or substitute for calling 911 or local emergency services. Safety points are probabilistic indicators compiled from third-party and community sources. They can be incomplete, delayed, biased, or wrong. You remain responsible for how you travel and for obeying traffic and other laws.
SafeStarr Pro subscriptions
Auto-renewable subscriptions are sold as SafeStarr Pro. Current plans (USD, may vary by storefront):
- Monthly — $6.99 per month
- Annual — $59.99 per year
New subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial where offered. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. After a trial, the charge occurs within 24 hours before the trial ends unless you cancel first.
Manage or cancel anytime: iOS — Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions; Android — Google Play › Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Unused portions of a paid period are generally not refundable except where required by law or by Apple or Google.
Accounts and eligibility
You may use core map features without an email/password account. Some features (community reports, saved profile data, purchases) may require sign-in (for example Apple, Google, or email). You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with a parent or guardian’s consent.
Community reports and acceptable use
If you submit a report, rating, or other content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, review, moderate, display, and distribute that content in the Service. We may reject, edit, or remove content that is false, abusive, unlawful, off-topic, or unsafe.
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to harass, threaten, or endanger anyone
- Submit reports you know are false or misleading
- Interfere with the Service or attempt unauthorized access
- Scrape, resell, or republish our safety data as a competing feed
- Use the Service in a way that violates applicable law
Location and maps
The app uses your location to show nearby safety points and, when Driving Mode is on, to navigate and alert along your route. You can turn location off in device settings; some features will stop working. Map and routing data are provided by third parties (including Mapbox and OpenStreetMap). Place search may use OpenStreetMap or Google Places where configured.
Intellectual property
SafeStarr, the wordmark, motto, and the Service’s original software and design are owned by us or our licensors. Third-party software, fonts, map data, and crime/safety datasets remain the property of their owners and are used under their licences. These Terms do not transfer ownership of any third-party materials.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the map, alerts, or routes are accurate, complete, or timely.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or safety outcomes arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for SafeStarr Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; those limitations apply only to the extent allowed.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time and cancel subscriptions as described above. See Delete account for data deletion.
Changes
We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Material changes to paid subscriptions will be handled as required by Apple, Google, and applicable law.
